Ingredients- 200g Sea tangle (Tossal)
- 1 Tbsp Cooking wine or Mirin (to remove any fishy odor)
- 2 Tbsp Perilla oil (Deulgireum)
- 1 Tbsp Soy sauce
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- Minced green onion (adjust quantity to your preference)
- 1 Tbsp Minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp Toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, it’s crucial to thoroughly remove the saltiness and any potential fishy odor from the sea tangle. Place the sea tangle in a bowl and wash it vigorously under running water, rubbing it with your hands. Continue rinsing until the water runs clear to ensure it’s perfectly clean.
Step 2
Once thoroughly washed, prepare the sea tangle for cooking by cutting it into bite-sized pieces. Cutting the long strands into 3-4 segments will make it much easier to stir-fry and eat.
Step 3
Now, let’s start stir-frying! Heat a pan over high heat. First, add 1 tablespoon of cooking wine (or mirin) to help eliminate any gamey smell from the sea tangle. Next, add 2 tablespoons of perilla oil, 1 tablespoon of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of sugar, minced green onion, and 1 tablespoon of minced garlic in that order. Stir-fry everything quickly over high heat until well combined. As the sauce begins to reduce, lower the heat to low and let it simmer gently. Continue simmering until the sauce coats the sea tangle evenly and it develops a subtle sheen. Finally, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of toasted sesame seeds over the top to finish.
