Easy and Delicious Steamed Ggwari Gochu Recipe for a Flavorful Side Dish
One of my favorite side dishes is steamed Ggwari Gochu, so I make it often! I’ll share an easy and simple recipe with you.
Main Ingredients- 450g Ggwari Gochu (Korean chili peppers)
- 1 stalk Green Onion
Seasoning Ingredients- 3 Tbsp Flour
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1.5 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Korean traditional)
- 1/2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 3 Tbsp Flour
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1.5 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce (Korean traditional)
- 1/2 Tbsp Gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the Ggwari Gochu thoroughly and cut any larger ones in half. This helps them absorb the seasoning better.
Step 2
Add 3 Tbsp of flour to the prepared Ggwari Gochu. Gently shake the bowl or a sealed bag to coat the peppers evenly with a light layer of flour. This coating will make the peppers tender and help the sauce adhere well after steaming.
Step 3
Steam the flour-coated Ggwari Gochu over high heat for about 7-8 minutes. Once the water is boiling, steam for about 4-5 minutes. They should be tender but not mushy. You can check for doneness by piercing with a chopstick; it should go through easily.
Step 4
In a bowl, combine the steamed Ggwari Gochu with 3 Tbsp of Korean soy sauce, 1/2 Tbsp of minced garlic, 1.5 Tbsp of sesame oil, 1/2 Tbsp of Gochugaru, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined. This flavorful and simple Ggwari Gochu Muchim is ready to be enjoyed!
