Main Ingredients- 2 sheets of flat fish cakes (eomuk)
- A portion of green onion
- A portion of carrot
- A portion of onion
Seasoning- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligosaccharide)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or oligosaccharide)
- Sesame seeds (for garnish)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash and prepare your vegetables. Thinly julienne the onion and carrot. Slice the green onion into similar lengths. Having your vegetables prepped beforehand will save you time during cooking.
Step 2
Slice the flat fish cakes into thin, bite-sized strips (about 1cm wide). Place the sliced fish cakes in a wide pan. Add 1 tablespoon of soy sauce and a moderate amount of canola oil (or any cooking oil). Stir-fry over medium heat, being careful not to burn the fish cakes. It’s important to sauté them until they become slightly chewy.
Step 3
Once the fish cakes are partially cooked, add 1 tablespoon of corn syrup for a glossy finish. Now, add the prepped onion, carrot, and green onion. Stir-fry over medium-low heat just until the vegetables begin to soften and the flavors meld together. Be careful not to overcook, as the vegetables can become mushy.
Step 4
Finally, sprinkle a generous amount of sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and flavor. Stir-fry briefly to incorporate them. Transfer the perfectly cooked eomuk bokkeum to a serving dish for a delicious and satisfying side dish!
