Delicious and Chewy Stir-Fried Fern Recipe
I spotted some fresh fern at the supermarket and decided to make it into a side dish for dinner! Try this stir-fried fern dish, boasting a wonderfully chewy texture and a deep, savory flavor that makes it a perfect accompaniment to rice. It’s simple yet incredibly satisfying.
Main Ingredients- 200g Blanched Fern (drained)
Seasonings & Others- 1 tsp Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp Soup Soy Sauce (for deep umami)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for nutty aroma)
- Pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp Canola Oil or Vegetable Oil (for stir-frying)
- 1 tsp Salt (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp Soup Soy Sauce (for deep umami)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1 Tbsp Sesame Oil (for nutty aroma)
- Pinch of Toasted Sesame Seeds (for garnish)
- 1 Tbsp Canola Oil or Vegetable Oil (for stir-frying)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, thoroughly drain the blanched fern. Rinsing it under running water is recommended for a cleaner taste. Properly draining is key to avoid a mushy texture when stir-frying.
Step 2
Heat 1 tablespoon of canola oil (or vegetable oil) in a pan over medium heat. Add the drained fern to the pan. Along with the fern, add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil.
Step 3
Stir-fry the fern quickly using a spatula or chopsticks to prevent burning. Continue stir-frying for about 3-5 minutes until the fern softens slightly and develops a pleasant chewiness.
Step 4
Once the fern is adequately stir-fried, add 1/2 tablespoon of minced garlic and stir-fry together for about 1 minute, allowing the garlic aroma to infuse into the fern. At this stage, add 1 teaspoon of soup soy sauce to enhance the dish’s savory depth.
Step 5
Finally, sprinkle a pinch of toasted sesame seeds over the top as a garnish, if desired. Mix well, stir-fry for another moment, and your delicious stir-fried fern dish is ready to be enjoyed!
