Introducing a delicious stir-fry recipe featuring savory Spam and fluffy potatoes, easily made at home. This dish is so addictive, you’ll finish a whole bowl of rice with it!
Main Ingredients- 1 large potato
- 60g Spam (half of a small can)
- 1/2 onion
- 1/2 green bell pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, wash the large potato thoroughly. Then, julienne it into thin strips, about 0.3 cm thick. Cutting them not too thick makes them easier for everyone to enjoy, especially children.

Next, julienne the half onion into strips of similar thickness to the potatoes. This will add a pleasant sweetness to the dish.

For added flavor, prepare 60g of Spam (which is half of a small 120g can) and julienne it just like the potatoes. The saltiness of the Spam will be a perfect match for the potatoes.

To add color and a crisp texture, julienne the half green bell pepper to match the thickness of the potatoes and onions. You can adjust or omit the bell pepper if you have picky eaters or dislike it.

Rinse the julienned potatoes in cold water about twice to remove excess starch. This step is crucial because it prevents the potatoes from sticking together when stir-fried, resulting in a fluffier texture. Drain them well in a colander.

In a pot, bring plenty of water to a boil and add 1/2 tablespoon of salt. Once the water is boiling vigorously, add the drained julienned potatoes and blanch them for only about 2 minutes. The potatoes are half-cooked when they start to turn slightly translucent, so be careful not to overcook them. Immediately drain the blanched potatoes in a colander to remove all the water.

Next, add the julienned Spam to the same water used for blanching the potatoes and blanch it very briefly. This step helps to remove excess grease from the Spam, resulting in a cleaner taste. Remove the blanched Spam immediately and drain it.

Now, let’s start stir-frying! Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the drained potatoes and julienned onions. Season with 1/5 teaspoon of salt and stir-fry until the potatoes and onions are cooked through, stirring occasionally.

Once the potatoes and onions become translucent and are partially cooked, add the blanched Spam and julienned bell pepper. Stir-fry together for just 1-2 minutes, ensuring the bell pepper retains some crispness. It’s important to keep the vegetables slightly crisp.

Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil for a nutty aroma. Sprinkle a pinch of black sesame seeds for a visually appealing finish. Give everything a gentle toss to combine well.
