The Easiest Soy Sauce and Egg Fried Rice
A delightfully savory and aromatic soy sauce and egg fried rice that’s incredibly easy to make. Using just leftover rice and eggs, this recipe delivers a comforting and satisfying meal. Perfect for a quick lunch, a busy weeknight dinner, or a kid-friendly option!
Ingredients- 2 large eggs
- 1 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 bowl (approx. 200g) cooked rice
- Sesame oil, to taste
- Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Heat a large frying pan or wok over medium heat. Once warm, add a generous drizzle of sesame oil and let it heat up, infusing the pan with its aroma. Be mindful not to let the sesame oil burn.
Step 2
Add 1 bowl of cooked rice to the pan. Using a spatula, break up the rice clumps and stir-fry for about 2-3 minutes until the grains are separated and slightly toasted. If using cold or leftover rice, microwaving it briefly beforehand will make it easier to separate.
Step 3
Once the rice is coated in sesame oil and the grains are distinct, push the rice to one side of the pan to create a small well. Pour 1 Tbsp of soy sauce into the empty space. Let the soy sauce sizzle and caramelize slightly for a few seconds before mixing it into the rice.

Quickly mix the soy sauce with the rice, ensuring every grain is evenly coated. Continue to stir-fry for about 1 minute, allowing the soy sauce to permeate the rice. Watch out for the soy sauce burning at the bottom of the pan.
Step 5
Turn off the heat completely! Crack 2 large eggs directly over the rice. The residual heat from the pan will begin to gently cook the eggs.

While the heat is off, gently mix the eggs into the rice with your spatula, as if you’re tossing them together. Ensure the egg coats the rice grains. Once combined, turn the heat back on to low and cook just until the eggs are set and bind the rice together. Avoid overcooking, which can make the eggs dry.
Step 7
Finally, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for a lovely finish. Serve immediately and enjoy this simple yet delicious soy sauce egg fried rice!
