Main Ingredients- Somen noodles 75g (1 serving)
- Soy sauce 2 Tbsp
- Sugar 1 Tbsp
- Perilla oil 1 Tbsp (sesame oil can be substituted)
Optional Toppings- Crushed dried seaweed (Gim) to taste
- 1 Egg yolk
- Crushed dried seaweed (Gim) to taste
- 1 Egg yolk
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Boil the somen noodles in plenty of water according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain the noodles and rinse them thoroughly under cold running water to achieve a chewy texture. Rinsing in cold water prevents the noodles from becoming mushy and keeps them delightfully springy.
Step 2
In a small bowl, combine 2 Tbsp of soy sauce, 1 Tbsp of sugar, and 1 Tbsp of perilla oil for a nutty aroma. (Sesame oil is also a good option.) Stir well with a spoon until the sugar is completely dissolved, creating your savory sauce.
Step 3
Place the well-drained somen noodles in a serving bowl. Pour the prepared soy sauce mixture over the noodles. Gently toss with chopsticks or tongs, being careful not to break the noodles, until the sauce is evenly distributed. Your delicious soy sauce bibim guksu is ready!
Step 4
For an enhanced flavor and presentation, sprinkle generously with crushed dried seaweed or delicately place an egg yolk on top, according to your preference. Mixing in the egg yolk will add a wonderfully smooth and rich taste. This simple dish creates a satisfying meal.
