Savory Soy-Glazed Fish Cake and Ham Stir-Fry (Excellent as a Side Dish for Kids!)
This is a delicious soy-glazed fish cake stir-fry enhanced with ham and fresh vegetables. The addition of oyster sauce creates a delightful umami-rich, sweet-and-savory flavor profile. It’s a perfect side dish for children’s lunchboxes or a staple for the whole family.
Main Ingredients- 3 sheets of square fish cakes
- 140g smoked ham (or your favorite ham, approx. 1 standard pack)
- 1/4 red bell pepper
- 1/2 medium onion
- 1/2 stalk of green onion
- 3 Korean chili peppers (adjust to your spice preference)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare the ingredients for a delicious stir-fry.
Step 2
Slice the fish cakes and ham into strips about 0.3mm thick. Julienne the onion and red bell pepper slightly thinner than the fish cakes. Slice the green onion and Korean chili peppers diagonally.
Step 3
Heat a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add all ingredients except the red bell pepper, chili peppers, and green onion (fish cakes, ham, onion), along with the seasoning ingredients (minced garlic, soy sauce, cooking wine, oyster sauce, sugar). Stir-fry together.
Step 4
Once the onion becomes translucent and the fish cakes begin to soften, add the reserved red bell pepper, chili peppers, and green onion. Continue to stir-fry for another 1-2 minutes until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 5
When the green onions are wilted, turn off the heat and sprinkle with sesame seeds for garnish. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed by adding more soy sauce or oyster sauce for saltiness, or a bit more sugar for sweetness. Be careful not to overcook on high heat, as it can make the fish cakes tough!
Step 6
Enjoy your perfectly cooked Savory Soy-Glazed Fish Cake and Ham Stir-Fry!
