A delightful Japanese-inspired pasta seasoned with soy sauce! It’s simple yet incredibly flavorful, perfect for a quick weeknight meal or a special occasion.
Main Ingredients- Spaghetti pasta 200g
- Thick-cut bacon 4 strips
- Fresh spinach 4 bunches
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil. Add 200g of spaghetti pasta and cook according to package directions, minus about 1 minute, for al dente. (Typically 9-10 minutes). Reserve about 1 cup of the pasta water before draining.
Step 2
While the pasta cooks, prepare your ingredients. Thoroughly wash the spinach, trim the tough ends, and roughly chop it into 3-4cm pieces. Cut the bacon into bite-sized pieces, about 1-2cm wide.
Step 3
Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame oil. Add the prepared bacon and cook until it’s golden brown and slightly crispy, rendering its fat. If there’s excessive fat, you can carefully drain some of it off with a paper towel.
Step 4
Once the bacon is nicely cooked, add the chopped spinach to the skillet. Sauté for about 1-2 minutes until the spinach wilts but retains its vibrant green color. Avoid overcooking the spinach to maintain its freshness.
Step 5
Drain the cooked spaghetti, reserving some pasta water. Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the bacon and spinach. Pour in 2 tsp of soy sauce and toss everything together quickly to coat evenly. Gradually add a little of the reserved pasta water as needed to create a smooth, luscious sauce.
Step 6
Transfer the finished pasta to a warm serving plate. For an extra touch, you can freshly grind some black pepper over the top or sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
