Main Ingredients

  • Vienna sausages: 1 cup (approx. 150g)
  • 1 ripe medium-sized tomato
  • 1/4 zucchini (approx. 5cm length)
  • 1/4 onion
  • 2-3 heads of bok choy

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Gently blanch the Vienna sausages in boiling water for about 1 minute. This helps to remove excess oil and gives them a firmer, springier texture. After blanching, rinse them under cold water and drain well.

Step 1

Step 2

Separate the bok choy leaves from the core, wash them thoroughly, and submerge them in water for a moment before giving them a gentle rinse. Shake off any excess water.

Step 2

Step 3

Slice the zucchini into half-moons about 0.5cm thick. Slice the onion into strips. Aim to cut the vegetables into pieces roughly the same size as the sausages for a balanced bite.

Step 3

Step 4

Finely mince the ripe tomato. Removing the core beforehand will make mincing easier. The tomato juice and pulp will blend with the sauce, adding natural sweetness and umami.

Step 4

Step 5

Heat olive oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add the minced tomato and minced garlic (if using) and sauté until the tomatoes begin to break down and release their juices. Add the sliced onion and zucchini, season lightly with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until the vegetables are slightly softened and translucent.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the vegetables are partially cooked, add the cooking wine and soy sauce to enhance the flavors. Stir in the blanched Vienna sausages and cook, stirring occasionally, until everything is well combined and heated through. The cooking wine helps to tenderize the sausages and adds depth.

Step 6

Step 7

When the stir-fry is almost done and the sauce has slightly thickened, add the prepared bok choy leaves. Stir-fry quickly over high heat for just 1-2 minutes, ensuring the bok choy remains crisp and vibrant. Avoid overcooking. Finally, sprinkle with sesame seeds for a nutty finish. Your delicious sausage and vegetable stir-fry is ready!
