Main Ingredients- 4 sheets of square fish cake (eomuk)
- A little bit of carrot (julienned)
- 1 handful of cabbage (cut into large pieces)
- A little bit of green onion (cut diagonally)
- 1 Cheongyang chili pepper (for adults, optional)
Seasoning- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey/oligosaccharide)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp cooking wine (mirin or sake)
- 1/2 Tbsp oyster sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp sugar
- 0.5 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey/oligosaccharide)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
- 1 tsp cooking wine (mirin or sake)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the fish cakes by cutting them into bite-sized pieces, typically about 2-3 cm wide. Cut the cabbage into similarly large pieces, and thinly julienne the carrot. Slice the green onion diagonally. If you’re making a spicier version for adults, remove the seeds from the Cheongyang chili pepper and chop it finely.
Step 2
Heat a little cooking oil in a lightly oiled pan over medium heat. Add the cabbage first and stir-fry until it just begins to soften. Once the cabbage looks translucent, add the julienned carrots and the cut fish cakes. Continue to stir-fry everything together until well combined and the fish cakes are softened, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 3
Now it’s time to add the delicious seasoning! Add the oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, cooking wine, corn syrup, and minced garlic to the pan. Stir-fry over high heat for about 1-2 minutes, ensuring the sauce coats all the ingredients evenly. Finally, add the diagonally sliced green onions, drizzle with sesame oil, and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Stir briefly one last time, and your fantastic Oyster Sauce Fish Cake Stir-fry is ready! If making this for children, omit the Cheongyang chili pepper.
Step 4
And there you have it – a perfectly delicious Oyster Sauce Fish Cake Stir-fry! Serve it over warm rice for a delightful meal.
