Main Ingredients- 10 large eggs
- 1000cc water (for boiling eggs)
Braising Sauce Ingredients- 700cc soy sauce
- 1400cc water
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1/4 carrot (finely diced)
- 1 stalk scallion (thick part)
- 1/4 yellow bell pepper (optional, for color)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
- 700cc soy sauce
- 1400cc water
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 1/4 carrot (finely diced)
- 1 stalk scallion (thick part)
- 1/4 yellow bell pepper (optional, for color)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 Tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start with perfectly boiled eggs! To prevent cracking, let the eggs sit at room temperature for about 2-3 hours beforehand. In a pot, combine 1000cc of water and 1 Tbsp of salt, then carefully place the eggs inside. Boil for about 10-12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs.
Step 2
While the eggs are boiling, let’s prepare the flavorful braising sauce. In a large bowl, combine 700cc of soy sauce, 1400cc of water, and 3 Tbsp of honey. Stir well until the honey is completely dissolved. The honey adds a wonderful glaze and mellows the flavor.
Step 3
Now, it’s time to prepare the vegetables that will add depth and texture! Peel the carrot and dice it finely. Cut the thick part of the scallion into larger pieces for better flavor infusion. If you have a yellow bell pepper, dice it small for a pop of color (it’s optional). Add all the prepared vegetables to the sauce mixture from step 1.
Step 4
Once the eggs are boiled, immediately immerse them in cold water to cool them down – this makes peeling much easier! After peeling, carefully add the eggs to the pot containing the braising sauce. Finally, stir in 2 Tbsp of sesame oil and 1 Tbsp of toasted sesame seeds for that aromatic finish.
Step 5
These Soy-Braised Eggs are delicious served warm, but they’re also fantastic chilled after a stint in the refrigerator! Their savory-sweet flavor is a perfect match for rice, making them an excellent addition to your lunchbox. Enjoy this delightful dish that the whole family will love!
