Create Delicious Bacon and Tofu Rounds: A Perfect Combination
Experience the delightful savory charm of bacon! Let’s make tofu rounds enhanced with the deliciousness of bacon. Isn’t it amazing how many culinary possibilities there are with processed meats? This recipe showcases a wonderful way to enjoy them.
Essential Ingredients
- 12 slices Mokwoochon Bacon
- 1/2 block Tofu (approx. 150g)
- 3 Tbsp Potato Starch
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the bacon. Lay out each slice of bacon on a paper towel and gently press to absorb any excess grease. This step helps to reduce oil splatter during cooking and makes the bacon less greasy.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the tofu filling. Mash the tofu using the back of a fork or a knife. It’s crucial to squeeze out as much water as possible from the mashed tofu using a cheesecloth or paper towels. This ensures the filling isn’t too wet and holds its shape. You can use the minced carrot and onion as they are, or for a slightly richer flavor, lightly sauté them in a dry pan until they are crumbly and then let them cool. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed tofu, minced garlic, minced scallions, minced carrots, and minced onions. Add the sesame oil, sesame seeds, and a pinch of salt. Mix everything together gently until well combined, then form the mixture into small round patties or ‘wanz’ (meatballs).
Step 3
Next, we’ll wrap the tofu rounds with bacon to create the ‘sandwich’ shape. Lightly coat each tofu round with potato starch on all sides. This helps the bacon adhere better to the tofu and adds a pleasant crispiness when cooked. Take one slice of bacon and wrap it around a starch-coated tofu round, creating a sandwich-like appearance. Overlap the end of the bacon slice to secure it, so it doesn’t unravel during cooking. You can also use toothpicks to hold them in place if needed.
