Easy Baby Food Recipe: ‘Crab Stick and Onion Stir-fry’ Perfect for Little Ones
Introducing an easy and delicious ‘Crab Stick and Onion Stir-fry’ recipe, specially made for babies. Create a nutritious side dish with simple ingredients.
Main Ingredients- Onion: 60g (finely minced to suit your baby’s palate)
- Crab sticks (imitation crab meat): 30g (shredded or finely chopped)
- Green onion (white part only): 5g (minced very finely)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Before you begin cooking, carefully check and prepare all your ingredients. Peel and wash the onion thoroughly, then mince it very finely so it’s suitable for your baby to eat. Unwrap the crab sticks and shred or finely chop them. Mince only the white part of the green onion very finely. Having your ingredients prepped like this will make the cooking process much smoother.
Step 2
Let’s start cooking! Heat a frying pan over medium-low heat, then add 1 Tbsp of cooking oil, swirling it to coat the pan thinly. Cooking over medium-low heat, rather than high heat, prevents burning and allows for a more delicate flavor.
Step 3
Add the minced onion to the heated pan first and stir-fry it. It’s best to gently stir with a spatula to prevent the onion from sticking to the pan. Sauté the onion until it’s well softened and its natural sweetness is released.
Step 4
Once the onion becomes somewhat transparent and starts to soften, add 0.5 Tbsp of low-sodium soy sauce and stir-fry briefly to let the onion absorb the flavor. Since this is for a baby’s meal, be sure to use low-sodium soy sauce, or if using regular soy sauce, use only a very small amount.
Step 5
Now, add 0.5 Tbsp of oligosaccharide to the pan. The oligosaccharide will give the ingredients a nice sheen and a subtle sweetness that babies will enjoy. You can adjust the sweetness based on your baby’s age and preference.
Step 6
Finally, add the minced green onion and shredded crab sticks. Stir-fry just enough to combine all the ingredients well. Cook until the onion is fully tender and the crab sticks are heated through and slightly softened – this will complete your delicious crab stick and onion stir-fry! Be careful not to overcook, as the crab sticks can become dry. Let the finished dish cool down before serving it to your baby.
