- 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste) (a heaping spoonful)
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Mirin (rice wine)
- 1.5 Tbsp Corn Syrup (or other liquid sweetener)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/4 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Mayonnaise (a heaping spoonful)
- 1/2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Gochujang (Korean chili paste) (a heaping spoonful)
- 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp Sugar
- 1/2 Tbsp Mirin (rice wine)
- 1.5 Tbsp Corn Syrup (or other liquid sweetener)
- 1/2 Tbsp Minced Garlic
- 1/4 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tbsp Mayonnaise (a heaping spoonful)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the essential sauce for your delicious gochujang stir-fry. In a bowl, combine the cooking oil, gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, mirin, corn syrup, minced garlic, sesame oil, and mayonnaise. Stir thoroughly until the sugar is completely dissolved and the sauce is smooth. For the gochujang and mayonnaise, a heaping spoonful will measure exactly half a tablespoon.
Step 2
Now it’s time to stir-fry the dried shrimp. Heat your frying pan thoroughly over medium heat. Add the dried shrimp and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes, making sure they don’t burn. Pre-toasting the dried shrimp helps to effectively remove any unpleasant odors or fishiness absorbed during storage, especially if they’ve been frozen. This results in a cleaner and more delicious final dish. (This step can be skipped if using immediately, but a light sauté is recommended for enhanced flavor.)
Step 3
Once the dried shrimp are toasted, reduce the heat to medium-low. Pour in the prepared sauce and stir-fry quickly to coat the shrimp evenly with the sauce. If the sauce starts to stick to the pan too quickly, do not add water. Instead, immediately turn off the heat and gently toss the shrimp with the sauce, using the residual heat of the pan to blend everything together smoothly until the delicious gochujang stir-fry is complete.
Step 4
Your mouth-watering dried shrimp gochujang stir-fry is ready! Store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator, and it will remain a top-tier side dish for over two weeks. It’s perfect with rice or even as a snack. A recipe video is also available for further guidance, which will be a great help!
