Hello everyone! I truly love rice balls. They’re simple, delicious, and incredibly satisfying – what’s not to love? Today, we’re making special egg rice balls using the spicy braised eggs I made previously. If you don’t have spicy braised eggs, regular soy-sauce seasoned eggs or simple hard-boiled eggs will work wonderfully too. Let’s create a fantastic meal with just a few simple ingredients!

Main Ingredients

  • 1 Spicy Braised Egg (or Soy-Sauce Egg / Hard-boiled Egg)
  • 1 bowl of warm cooked rice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 0.5 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/2 bowl seaweed flakes

For Plain Hard-boiled Egg Option

  • 1 hard-boiled egg
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

Cooking Instructions

Start by sprinkling 1 teaspoon of salt over 1 bowl of warm cooked rice. Salt is crucial for seasoning the rice evenly.

Drizzle in 0.5 tablespoon of sesame oil for added flavor and aroma. If you’re using a plain hard-boiled egg, mash or finely chop it now and mix it with 1 tablespoon of soy sauce into the rice. Adjust the soy sauce amount to your taste.

Using a spatula or spoon, gently mix the rice to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed and the rice grains are not clumped together. It’s important to mix thoroughly so the seasoning penetrates each grain.

Take a portion of the seasoned rice onto your palm and flatten it into a thin, wide disc. This shape makes it much easier to enclose the egg filling.
