  • Cooking : Boil / Simmer

  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can (85g) canned tuna
  • 1 paper cup dried seaweed (approx. 10g)
  • 1 tablespoon soup soy sauce (guk-ganjang)
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • A pinch of fine salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, soak the dried seaweed in cold water for about 20-30 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the soaked seaweed thoroughly under running water, squeeze out excess water, and cut it into bite-sized pieces.

Step 1

Step 2

Pour the oil from the canned tuna into a pot. (If there’s no oil, you can use about 1/2 tablespoon of cooking oil.)

Step 2

Step 3

Add the rehydrated seaweed to the pot and stir-fry it in the tuna oil for about 2-3 minutes until it becomes tender and glossy. This step enhances the depth of flavor in the soup.

Step 3

Step 4

Once the seaweed is sautéed, drain the excess liquid from the canned tuna and add the tuna to the pot. Gently stir to combine without breaking up the tuna too much.

Step 4

Step 5

Add 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and stir-fry briefly until fragrant. The garlic will infuse the seaweed and tuna with its aromatic flavor.

Step 5

Step 6

Now, pour in plenty of water for the broth. About 3 paper cups (approximately 600ml) is a good amount. Bring the soup to a boil over high heat.

Step 6

Step 7

Once the water is boiling, add 1 tablespoon of soup soy sauce to season. Reduce the heat to medium, cover the pot, and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the seaweed to soften and the flavors to meld beautifully.
