  • 2 Potatoes
  • 1 Carrot
  • 2 Chili peppers (optional, for added flavor)
  • Curry powder for 2 servings (use your preferred brand)
  • 2 bowls of Rice

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Prepare Ingredients for Delicious Curry: First, wash all vegetables and beef thoroughly and get them ready.

Step 2

Chop the Vegetables: Peel the potatoes and carrot, then dice them into approximately 1.5-2cm cubes. Dice the onion into similar-sized pieces. If the vegetables are too small, they might break down too much while cooking, so aim for a suitable size.

Step 3

Prepare the Beef: Cut the beef into bite-sized pieces (about 2-3cm). Using tender cuts like brisket will make the curry even more delicious.

Step 4

Sauté the Vegetables: Heat 2-3 tablespoons of cooking oil in a pot or deep pan over medium heat. Add the diced carrot, potato, and onion and sauté for about 3-5 minutes until they begin to look slightly translucent. Sautéing the vegetables beforehand brings out their natural sweetness, enhancing the curry’s depth of flavor.

Step 5

Add and Sauté the Beef: Once the onion starts to turn transparent, add the cut beef and sauté together. Continue cooking until the beef is browned on the outside.

Step 6

Add Water and Simmer: After sautéing the beef and vegetables, pour in enough water to cover the ingredients. Typically, 500-600ml of water is appropriate. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce to medium heat and simmer for 5-7 minutes. The liquid will reduce, and the ingredients will soften.

Step 7

Prepare the Curry Powder: Measure out 2 servings of curry powder. It’s helpful to refer to the water amount indicated on the packaging of your chosen curry powder.

Step 8

Dissolve the Curry Powder: Instead of adding the curry powder directly to the pot, it’s best to mix it with a little cold water or some of the broth in a separate bowl until smooth. Then, pour this mixture into the pot. This prevents lumps and results in a smoother, more refined curry.

Step 9

Simmer Gently: After adding the dissolved curry powder, reduce the heat to low. Continue to simmer for 7-8 minutes, or until the carrot is tender when pierced with a chopstick. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking to the bottom. If the curry is too thin, simmer a little longer until it reaches your desired consistency.

Step 10

Add Chili Peppers (Optional): If you enjoy a bit of spice, finely slice the deseeded chili peppers and add them now. This will add a pleasant kick and further enhance the curry’s complex flavors.

Step 11

Delicious Curry is Ready!: Ladle the finished curry generously over warm rice and enjoy! Leftover curry can be stored in the refrigerator and reheated.
