A Simple Yet Nutritious Tuna and Seaweed Soup
When you have nothing to eat from the pantry, this is a quick and easy soup made with tuna and seaweed. It’s a warm and satisfying dish that can revive your appetite!
Ingredients- Dried seaweed 7.5g (will expand significantly when rehydrated)
- Canned tuna 150g (drained)
- Minced garlic 1 Tbsp
- Sesame oil 1 Tbsp
- Soy sauce 1 Tbsp (for savory depth)
- Salt to taste
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare all your ingredients before you begin cooking. Don’t forget to add 1 Tbsp of soy sauce – it adds a wonderful depth of flavor!
Step 2
1. Soak the dried seaweed in cold water for about 10-15 minutes until it’s fully rehydrated. This step softens the seaweed and reduces its natural saltiness.
2. Once rehydrated, rinse the seaweed thoroughly under clean water, squeeze out as much excess water as possible, and cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 3-4 cm long).
Step 3
In a pot, combine the squeezed seaweed, 1 Tbsp of sesame oil, 1 Tbsp of minced garlic, and 1 Tbsp of soy sauce. Stir-fry over medium-low heat for about 2-3 minutes until the seaweed softens and becomes fragrant. Be careful not to burn it.
Step 4
When the seaweed is well sautéed and tender, drain the oil from the canned tuna. Add the tuna to the pot and stir-fry gently for about 30 seconds, just to warm it through and allow its flavor to meld with the seaweed.
Step 5
After sautéing all the ingredients, add 3-4 cups (about 600-800ml) of water to the pot and bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 5-10 minutes, allowing the flavors to fully develop.
Step 6
Finally, taste the soup and add salt as needed to adjust the seasoning. You can also add a pinch of black pepper if you like. Your delicious and nutritious Tuna and Seaweed Soup is ready! Enjoy it warm with a bowl of rice.
