Main Ingredients
  • 3 fresh abalones
  • 10 portions of abalone innards
  • 1 bowl of warm cooked rice
  • 1/3 carrot
  • 1/2 cup milk (approx. 100ml)
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • A pinch of sesame seeds
  • A pinch of salt

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, separate the abalone from its shell. Scrub it thoroughly with a brush to remove any grit, then rinse under running water. Slice the abalone meat into bite-sized pieces or mince it. Finely dice the carrot.

Step 2

In a blender, combine the prepared abalone innards, 1 bowl of warm cooked rice, and 2 cups of water. Blend until smooth. The rich flavor of the abalone innards will add a wonderful depth to the porridge.

Step 3

Heat 1 tablespoon of sesame oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Add the prepared abalone meat and stir-fry until it just starts to cook. Pour in the blended abalone innard and rice mixture and mix well. Bring the porridge to a gentle simmer, stirring continuously. Skim off any foam that rises to the surface. Add the finely diced carrots and continue to cook, stirring. Season with salt to your preference. *Tip: Stir-frying the raw carrots with the abalone at this stage will make them softer and more flavorful.

Step 4

Once the porridge reaches your desired consistency, pour in the remaining 1/2 cup of milk (approx. 100ml) and simmer for another minute. Adding milk will make the porridge even smoother and more savory. Ladle the finished abalone porridge into bowls and sprinkle with sesame seeds for a fragrant finish.
