Making Delicious Retro Toast – A Perfect Snack for Kids!
This retro-style toast is a hit with kids! Instead of ham, we’re using bacon for a gourmet touch. Packed with crisp shredded cabbage for fantastic texture, this toast is simple to make and incredibly delicious. Enjoy this delightful treat!
Main Ingredients- 2 eggs
- 3 strips of bacon
- 1 handful shredded cabbage
- 1 slice of cheese
- 2 slices of bread

Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a bowl, crack 2 eggs. Add 1/2 Tbsp sugar and a pinch of salt, then whisk well. Pour the egg mixture into a preheated square pan and cook until set, folding it in half to match the length of the bread, creating a thick omelet. (Be careful not to let it stick to the bottom.)
Step 2
Carefully remove the cooked omelet from the pan. In the same pan, cook the bacon strips until golden brown and crispy. Place the cooked bacon on a paper towel to absorb excess grease and let it cool slightly.
Step 3
Melt some butter in the pan. Toast the slices of bread on both sides until golden brown and slightly crispy. This step ensures a delightful contrast between the crispy exterior and the soft interior. Cook over medium-low heat to prevent burning.
Step 4
Spread a thin layer of sweet strawberry jam evenly over one side of the toasted bread. Next, place the thick omelet you prepared earlier on top of the jam, followed by the crispy bacon strips arranged neatly.
Step 5
Generously add the shredded cabbage for a refreshing crunch. Then, drizzle ample amounts of ketchup and mayonnaise over the cabbage to enhance the flavor. (About 1-2 Tbsp of each is recommended.)

Finally, place a slice of cheese on top of the layered ingredients. The melting cheese will help bind everything together beautifully.
Step 7
Spread a little mayonnaise on one side of the remaining slice of bread and place it on top of the cheese. Your delicious retro-style toast, perfect for kids, is now complete! It’s a satisfying and tasty snack.
Step 8
Wrap the finished toast in parchment paper or wax paper and gently press down with your hands. This helps the toast hold its shape neatly. Slice it in half and enjoy while it’s warm! ♡
