Place the sliced cucumbers in a bowl, add about 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and let them sit for about 10 minutes to lightly pickle. After pickling, firmly squeeze out as much water as possible with your hands. This step ensures the cucumbers remain crisp and don’t make the salad watery.

It’s crucial to remove the slight bitterness from the bellflower root. After washing the bellflower root, place it in a bowl and add about 1 tablespoon of salt. Knead it vigorously (barak-barak style) for about 5 minutes to draw out the bitterness. Then, rinse it thoroughly under cold running water. Squeeze out as much water as you can by hand.

Trim any wilted leaves from the scallions and wash them well. Cut them into pieces about the same length as the sliced cucumbers. Cutting them to a similar size makes for easier eating.
