Ingredients

  • 1 serving of barley rice (mixed with glutinous barley and brown rice or white rice in a 1:1 ratio)
  • Well-fermented Yeolmu kimchi (young radish kimchi)
  • Fresh chives and radish salad (buchu-mu saengchae)
  • Sesame seeds, a pinch
  • Gochujang (Korean chili paste) 1/2 Tbsp
  • Sesame oil, a drizzle
  • 1 fried egg

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

To make delicious barley rice, combine glutinous barley rice and brown rice (or white rice) in a 1:1 ratio and cook. Using slightly less water than usual will result in a fluffier texture, perfect for bibimbap. Once cooked, portion the barley rice into individual serving bowls.

Step 1

Step 2

Generously top the barley rice with the crisp and refreshing Yeolmu kimchi, chopped into bite-sized pieces. Add the fragrant chives and radish salad to enhance the texture and flavor complexity. Finally, add 1/2 Tbsp of Gochujang in a swirl, adjusting to your preferred level of spice and sweetness.

Step 3

To complete your bibimbap, carefully place a fried egg on top. Breaking the yolk and mixing it with the rice will create a richer, creamier consistency. You can fry the egg to your liking, from sunny-side up to over-easy. Alternatively, scrambled eggs can be used, or you can omit the egg if you prefer. Garnish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and a drizzle of sesame oil for an extra burst of aroma and flavor. Now, mix everything together and savor your delightful Yeolmu Barley Bibimbap!
