Refreshing and Tangy Seaweed Salad (Mul-parae Muchim)
Super Easy Recipe for Seaweed Salad (Mul-parae Muchim)
Let’s make a refreshing, sweet, and sour, healthy seaweed salad (Mul-parae Muchim).
Main Ingredients- 100g Laver (Mul-parae)
- 1/4 Korean radish (approx. 100g)
- 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Hello everyone! Today, I’ll be sharing a super simple and delicious recipe for a side dish: Mul-parae Muchim, often translated as seaweed salad. Let’s make this fragrant, sweet, and sour delight quickly and easily!
Step 2
First, let’s prepare the ingredients. Thoroughly wash the laver (Mul-parae) and squeeze out as much water as possible. Then, cut it into bite-sized pieces, about 2-3 cm long. Peel the Korean radish and julienne it finely. You can either use the radish as is, or lightly salt it to draw out moisture for a crispier texture. (If salting, toss the julienned radish with 1/2 tsp salt, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then squeeze out the excess water.) Today, I’ll show you the method of using it without pre-salting. Keep in mind that it might release a little moisture this way.
Step 3
Now it’s time for seasoning. In a bowl, combine the prepared laver and the julienned radish. Next, add the key flavoring agents: salt, sugar, and vinegar, all at once. Finally, sprinkle in the toasted sesame seeds for a nutty aroma and flavor.
Step 4
Once all the ingredients and seasonings are in the bowl, gently mix everything together, whispering ‘become delicious!’ as you do. It’s important to mix gently so you don’t mash the ingredients. The fragrant scent of the sea from the laver combined with the sweet and sour dressing creates a truly wonderful seaweed salad. As it’s a vinegared salad, it pairs wonderfully with any main dish.
Step 5
Ta-da! Just like that, your super simple seaweed salad is ready. Enjoy this fresh and flavorful Mul-parae Muchim to complete your healthy meal!
