Main Ingredients- 2 handfuls dried seaweed (will yield a generous amount when rehydrated)
- 1 pack clam meat (approx. 200g, pre-soaked and cleaned clams are convenient)
Seasonings & Others- 1 Tbsp anchovy sauce (adds depth of flavor to the broth)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic (freshly minced garlic is recommended)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil (for a subtle aromatic touch)
- Plenty of water (about 5-6 rice bowls, or 1-1.2 liters)
- Salt to taste (for final seasoning)
- 1 Tbsp anchovy sauce (adds depth of flavor to the broth)
- 1 Tbsp minced garlic (freshly minced garlic is recommended)
- 2 Tbsp sesame oil (for a subtle aromatic touch)
- Plenty of water (about 5-6 rice bowls, or 1-1.2 liters)
- Salt to taste (for final seasoning)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, soak the dried seaweed in cold water for about 20-30 minutes until fully rehydrated. Rinse the soaked seaweed thoroughly under running water to remove excess salt. Squeeze out any excess water and cut it into bite-sized pieces (about 3-4 cm). Set aside.
Step 2
Heat 2 tablespoons of sesame oil in a pot over medium-low heat. Add the prepared seaweed and sauté for about 5 minutes until it becomes translucent and tender. Stir-frying the seaweed well enhances the depth of flavor in the soup.
Step 3
Once the seaweed is well-sautéed, add 1 tablespoon of anchovy sauce and stir-fry briefly. Sautéing the anchovy sauce first helps to mellow its pungency and bring out its savory umami flavor, making the broth even more delicious.
Step 4
Next, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, allowing the garlic aroma to infuse into the mixture.
Step 5
Now, add the clam meat and stir-fry with the seaweed and garlic for about 1-2 minutes. As the clams cook, they will release their natural sweetness, adding a wonderful seafood essence to the soup.
Step 6
Pour in plenty of water (about 5-6 rice bowls, or 1-1.2 liters). Bring the soup to a rolling boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors of the seaweed and clams to meld beautifully into the broth.
Step 7
Finally, taste the soup and season with salt as needed. Gradually add salt until you reach your desired flavor. Your delicious Clam and Seaweed Soup is now ready! Serve hot with a bowl of steamed rice for a satisfying meal.
