Essential Ingredients- 1 medium carrot
- 1/2 cup canned tuna (drained)
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 Tbsp sugar
- A pinch of whole grain mustard (optional)
- A pinch of salt
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, drain the oil completely from the canned tuna using a sieve. This step is crucial for a lighter flavor profile and to enhance the natural taste of the tuna.
Step 2
Wash the carrot thoroughly. Then, julienne it into thin strips, about 5cm (2 inches) in length. You can adjust the thickness to your preference, but thinner strips will cook more evenly.
Step 3
In a mixing bowl, combine the julienned carrots, minced garlic, and olive oil. Mix well until the carrots are evenly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave for about 3 minutes. This will slightly soften the carrots and deepen their flavor.
Step 4
Carefully remove the bowl from the microwave. Add the drained tuna, lemon juice, sugar, whole grain mustard (if using), salt, and pepper to the bowl. Gently mix all the ingredients together until well combined. Your delicious Tuna and Carrot Salad is now ready to serve!
