A Warm Mug of Miso Soup in 5 Minutes
Perfect for when you have a poor appetite or need a quick breakfast. This is a recipe for a savory miso soup that can be made in just 5 minutes.
Ingredients- 200ml water
- 1 tsp miso paste (or homemade miso)
- 1 Tbsp dried cut seaweed (wakame)
- 1 Tbsp dried anchovy powder
- A pinch of chopped green onion
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
In a large mug, add 1 Tbsp of dried anchovy powder, 1 tsp of miso paste, and 1 Tbsp of dried cut seaweed.
* Tip: Dried cut seaweed is convenient as it’s already cut into bite-sized pieces of the tender leaf part (without stems) and can be used immediately without soaking.
* Substitution: If you don’t prefer seaweed, you can omit it or add finely chopped soft tofu for a delicious variation.
Step 2
Boil 200ml of water in a kettle until it reaches a rolling boil. Pour the boiling water directly into the mug. Stir with a spoon to dissolve the miso paste and mix the seaweed thoroughly.
Step 3
Finally, add chopped green onions to your liking and give it a final gentle stir. This soup is best enjoyed hot for a comforting and satisfying meal.
* Tip: If you prefer not to use fresh green onions, finely chopped soft tofu can be added instead for a smoother, milder flavor.
