- 1/4 onion
- 1/4 carrot
- 100g chives or cooked fernbrake (namul)
- 1/4 bell pepper
- 2 shiitake mushrooms
Seasoning- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 0.3 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 paper cup water
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 3 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 0.3 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 paper cup water
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 3 tsp sesame seeds
- 1 tsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Boil 100g of glass noodles (about the size of a 500-won coin) for 5 minutes. Drain the noodles and set aside without rinsing them in cold water.
Step 2
Prepare the other ingredients: Slice 1 sheet of fish cake, 1/4 onion, 1/4 carrot, 100g of chives or cooked fernbrake (namul), 1/4 bell pepper, and 2 shiitake mushrooms into bite-sized pieces. Uniform slicing will make the dish look more appealing.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine 2 tsp soy sauce, 2 tsp oyster sauce, 1 tsp sugar, 0.3 tsp black pepper, and 1/2 paper cup of water. Whisk well to create the seasoning sauce and set it aside.
Step 4
Heat 3 tsp of cooking oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Add 2 tsp of minced garlic and stir-fry for 10-20 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.
Step 5
Add the sliced fish cake to the pan and stir-fry with the garlic for about 10 seconds to bring out its chewy texture.
Step 6
Now, add all the sliced vegetables (onion, carrot, chives/fernbrake, bell pepper, mushrooms) to the pan. Pour in 4 tsp of the prepared seasoning sauce. Stir-fry over high heat for 10-20 seconds to keep the vegetables crisp.
Step 7
Add the boiled glass noodles to the pan. Pour in an additional 4-6 tsp of the seasoning sauce and mix well. Stir-fry for about 10-20 seconds to allow the noodles to absorb the sauce. Then, gently toss the noodles and vegetables together and cook for another 10-20 seconds. Cook quickly to prevent the noodles from becoming soggy.
Step 8
Turn off the heat. Finally, add 3 tsp of sesame seeds and 1 tsp of sesame oil, and mix everything together. The nutty aroma of sesame seeds and oil will enhance the flavor of the Japchae Rice Bowl.
Step 9
Serve the delicious Japchae generously over warm rice and mix well to enjoy! This simple yet satisfying meal is ready.
