Ingredients
  • 2 Tbsp Udon Broth Base (store-bought): The key to a flavorful soup! Feel free to choose your favorite brand.
  • 1.5 Tbsp Bonito Extract (Tuna Extract): This magical ingredient adds a wonderful umami depth.
  • 1 pack Frozen Udon Noodles: For that perfect chewy texture!
  • 1/2 bunch Scallions (Green Onions): Thinly sliced to add a fresh aroma.
  • 2 Tbsp Pre-made Udon Toppings: Customize your udon with your favorites.
  • 3 sheets Seasoned Seaweed (Gim): For a crispy texture and savory finish.

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, pour 2 cups (about 400ml) of water into a pot and bring it to a boil over high heat. While the water is boiling, you can prepare the other ingredients to save time.

Step 2

Once the water begins to boil, add 1.5 tablespoons of bonito extract. This will add a deep umami flavor to the broth, making it even more delicious.

Step 3

Now, add the star of our recipe: 2 tablespoons of udon broth base. Using a store-bought udon broth base makes this process incredibly easy while still achieving a professional-level rich broth.

Step 4

Finally, add 1 pack of frozen udon noodles. Use chopsticks or a similar utensil to gently separate the noodles as they cook for about 2-3 minutes. It’s important to loosen them up so they don’t stick together. Cook until the noodles are tender.

Step 5

Once the udon noodles are cooked to your liking, immediately turn off the heat and carefully transfer the noodles and broth into your serving bowl. Be careful, as it will be hot!

Step 6

Generously top the udon with the thinly sliced scallions. The refreshing sharpness and crisp texture of the scallions will enhance the overall flavor of the udon.

Step 7

Lastly, add about 2 tablespoons of your chosen pre-made udon toppings (like tempura bits or fried tofu) and crumble the 3 sheets of seasoned seaweed over the top. Your delicious homemade udon is now complete! Enjoy it while it’s warm.
