Cooking Instructions
Step 1
If you have leftover filling from making buckwheat pancakes, today is the perfect day to turn it into delicious dumplings! We’ve decided on dumplings for today! (Frying them with rice paper later is also a great idea, but let’s enjoy them as dumplings first today!)
Step 2
Get your hands on some store-bought dumpling wrappers, easily found at most grocery stores. We’ll be using one pack for this recipe.
Step 3
When you open the package, you’ll find the wrappers neatly stacked and organized, ready for easy use.
Step 4
Lightly moisten the edges of each dumpling wrapper with a bit of water using your fingertip or the back of a spoon. This helps the wrappers seal properly, preventing the dumplings from opening during cooking and keeping their shape nice.
Step 5
Now, place a generous spoonful of your prepared buckwheat pancake filling in the center of each wrapper. If you’d like to make meat dumplings, you can certainly add some ground meat at this stage for extra flavor. Since I’m using up the leftover filling, I’m keeping it vegetarian.
Step 6
Here are the wonderfully crafted dumplings made from the leftover buckwheat pancake filling! A delicious meal is just moments away. The humble dumpling wrappers and filling have transformed into such a delightful dish.
Step 7
Steam the dumplings in a pot of boiling water. It’s important to add the dumplings only after the water is vigorously steaming. This prevents the wrappers from sticking to the steamer basket and ensures they cook beautifully. Steam for about 10-15 minutes, or until cooked through.
Step 8
While the dumplings are steaming, if you have any leftover dumpling wrappers, save them! You can freeze them for later use in pasta dishes or other recipes. This way, no ingredient goes to waste.
Step 9
While the dumplings are cooking, let’s prepare a simple dipping sauce. In a small bowl, combine 1 tsp soy sauce, 1 tsp lemon juice, and 1 tsp sugar. Stir well until everything is nicely mixed for a sweet and tangy sauce.
Step 10
Voila! Perfectly chewy and delicious dumplings are ready. Steamed dumplings are truly a treat, aren’t they? This portion is more than enough for a satisfying meal.
Step 11
These buckwheat pancake filling dumplings are so quick and easy to make! Dumplings are always a winner. It’s amazing how leftover ingredients can become such a tasty meal.
Step 12
For those who want more or for future enjoyment, I’ll steam a few extra dumplings and freeze them. They’ll be a convenient emergency stash, ready to be enjoyed anytime! Hehe.
