Enjoy Warm Homemade Baking: Simple Scone Mix Recipe

Quick & Delicious Scones: Ready in 20 Minutes with Your Air Fryer!

This morning, the wonderful aroma of freshly baked bread filled our home! Even though I recently bought donuts from Dunkin’, I found myself craving more baked goods. Rummaging through the pantry, I discovered a scone mix, which was a pleasant surprise. While I initially wanted to bake muffins, I decided to make the best of what I had and whip up some scones. I have plans to go out this afternoon, but the chilly morning air makes me hesitant. I’ll need to bundle up properly! I also need to prepare dinner for the two men in my life before I leave, and I’m pondering what to cook with the limited ingredients I have. However, worrying about it now won’t solve the problem, so I’ll focus on diligently documenting the process of baking these scones with the mix!

Recipe Info

  • Category : Bread
  • Ingredient Category : Flour / Wheat
  • Occasion : Snack
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 3 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 30 minutes
  • Difficulty : Beginner

Essential Ingredients

  • 1 packet Scone Mix
  • 60ml Cold Water

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, pour the entire packet of scone mix into a large bowl. This mix is portioned for two scones, so the quantity might feel a bit small, but it will transform into delicious scones soon! Don’t worry if you see lumps in the powder; you don’t need to sift it. Similar to the honey chunks found in Bisquick scones, other brands of scone mix might contain similar inclusions.

Step 1

Step 2

Now it’s time to mix the dough. Precisely measure 60ml of cold water according to the recipe and add it to the mix. For an even richer flavor, you can substitute cold milk for the water.

Step 2

Step 3

Using a spatula, gently mix the ingredients until they just come together to form a dough. Mixing by hand can be quite sticky, so using a spatula is a much easier and cleaner method.

Step 3

Step 4

While you could bake the scones immediately, I decided to let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes while I tackled the breakfast dishes. If you’re short on time or in a hurry, you can skip this step and bake them right away, as the recipe doesn’t specify a resting period. This 15-minute window was perfect for quickly cleaning up the kitchen.

Step 4

Step 5

I had considered baking these in the oven, but for just two scones, using the oven felt a bit much. So, today, I opted for the air fryer for a quick and easy baking experience! Lining the air fryer basket with parchment paper makes cleanup a breeze.

Step 5

Step 6

Once the dough has rested, gather it into a ball and then divide it into 6 equal triangular portions. This shape is reminiscent of the scones sold at Starbucks and is easy to handle and bake.

Step 6

Step 7

Place the shaped scones into the air fryer and set the temperature to 180℃ (350℉) for 15 minutes. Using a timer makes this process effortless. I’m thinking of upgrading to a larger capacity air fryer soon, as they are so convenient these days.

Step 7

Step 8

When the timer beeps, carefully open the air fryer to check on the scones. They should be golden brown. The side covered by the parchment paper might be lighter in color, so remove them to inspect and prepare to flip if needed.

Step 8

Step 9

Flip the scones so the lighter side is facing up, and return them to the air fryer for an additional 5 minutes at 180℃ (350℉). Baking for 15 minutes on the first side and 5 minutes on the second side means a total of 20 minutes for perfectly baked scones in the air fryer. Unlike ovens, air fryers don’t require preheating, making them incredibly convenient for quick baking.

Step 9

Step 10

And there you have it – scones baked in the air fryer using a convenient mix! While they might not perfectly replicate the taste of those from Starbucks, they are a wonderfully satisfying homemade treat. Enjoy them with a warm cup of tea or coffee!
