Super Simple Snack: Cheese Crisps Ready in Just 30 Seconds!

Quick 30-Second Cheese Crisps

It’s raining, and I don’t feel like going to the market. Plus, I don’t have much to photograph. What should I do? Ah, cheese in the fridge! Yes, I’ve decided on you! I’m going to make super simple cheese crisps that are done in 30 seconds. I don’t eat it when I have it, but I find myself craving it and buying it when I don’t. I probably won’t need to buy any for a while now. They just don’t disappear!

  • Occasion : Quick & Easy
  • Cooking : Grilled / Roasted
  • Servings : 2 servings
  • Cooking Time : Within 5 minutes
  • Difficulty : Anyone

Ingredients

  • 2 slices of cheese
  • A pinch of parsley flakes
  • Parchment paper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, cut the cheese slices into approximately 4×8 cm pieces. You should get 32 small pieces. Feel free to adjust the size according to your preference.

Step 1

Step 2

Next, arrange the cut cheese pieces on a sheet of parchment paper, ensuring there’s some space between them. (Tip: Some might think of placing a steamer rack underneath for elevation, but it’s not strictly necessary. Be cautious if using any metal or non-microwave-safe items underneath, as this can cause sparks.)

Step 2

Step 3

Thinking it would be ready in just 30 seconds, I placed the cheese in the microwave. However, after about 10 seconds, I heard a ‘zap’ sound and saw sparks! I immediately stopped the microwave and found the cheese slightly burnt. (Mistake: I should have used only the parchment paper, but I accidentally included the steamer rack, which caused the issue. I’ll do it correctly in the next step!)

Step 3

Step 4

Composing myself, let’s try this again! Place only the parchment paper with the cheese pieces in the microwave and cook for 30 seconds. You’ll see the cheese puff up nicely. Once done, remove and let it cool slightly.

Step 4

Step 5

This time, I’m aiming for slightly larger cheese crisps. I’ve cut the cheese into 4×4 cm pieces, making 16 pieces. Varying the size can offer a different texture experience.

Step 5

Step 6

Since I run a baking blog, I wanted to add a little something extra. I sprinkled some dried parsley flakes over the cheese pieces for a touch of herbaceous flavor.

Step 6

Step 7

Pop them back into the microwave for another 30 seconds. Around the 12-second mark, the cheese will start to puff up. My microwave takes 30 seconds, but this time can vary depending on your appliance’s wattage. Microwave ovens with convection/grill functions might take longer, so keep an eye on them.

Step 7

Step 8

Perhaps I should have spaced the cheese pieces a bit further apart this time. They’ve stuck together a bit. However, this doesn’t affect the taste at all! It’s just the appearance that’s slightly less perfect. I’ll be sure to manage the spacing better next time.
