Pork Jeon Ingredients

  • 150g pork (thinly sliced, e.g., shoulder or loin)
  • 2/3 cup sweet rice flour
  • 3 eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • Vegetable oil (for frying), generous amount

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Pat the pork slices dry with paper towels to remove any excess blood. This step is crucial for a clean taste without any gamey odor. Lightly season both sides of the pork with salt and pepper.

Step 1

Step 2

Place the sweet rice flour in a sieve. Gently coat both sides of the seasoned pork slices with the sweet rice flour, ensuring an even layer. Lightly shake off any excess flour. The sweet rice flour coating will create a wonderfully crispy texture when fried.

Step 2

Step 3

Whisk the eggs in a bowl to create an egg wash. Dip each flour-coated pork slice into the egg wash, ensuring it’s fully covered. Heat a generous amount of vegetable oil in a pan over medium-low heat. Carefully place the egg-coated pork slices in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides. Adjust the heat as needed to prevent burning.

Step 3

Step 4

Prepare the side salad. Cut the napa cabbage into bite-sized pieces, about 3-4 cm. Thinly slice the green onion. Place the cut cabbage and green onion into a mixing bowl.

Step 4

Step 5

Add the minced garlic, soy sauce (or soup soy sauce), vinegar, sesame oil, sesame seeds, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the bowl with the vegetables. Gently mix everything together with your hands until well combined. Be careful not to overmix, which can make the vegetables mushy.

Step 5

Step 6

Arrange the prepared salad on a serving plate. Place the freshly fried pork jeon on top of the salad. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds for an extra nutty flavor and an appealing finish. Enjoy this delicious pork jeon with sweet rice flour while it’s warm!
