- 300g bean sprouts (fresh and crisp)
- 1/2 onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green chili pepper (like Korean ‘kwari gochu’), cut into 2-3 pieces
- 10g green onion, chopped
Seasoning- 2.5 tsp sugar
- 4 tsp cooking wine (mirin, etc.)
- 4 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp chili powder (gochugaru)
- 2 tsp chili paste (gochujang)
- 2.5 tsp sugar
- 4 tsp cooking wine (mirin, etc.)
- 4 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 2 tsp chili powder (gochugaru)
- 2 tsp chili paste (gochujang)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables. Thinly slice the onion into about 0.5cm thick strips. Remove the stems from the green chili pepper and cut it into 2-3 pieces. Chop the green onion.
Step 2
Now, let’s make the delicious sauce. Add 2.5 teaspoons of sugar to a bowl.
Step 3
Next, add 4 teaspoons of cooking wine to enhance the sweetness and flavor.
Step 4
Add 4 teaspoons of soy sauce for a savory umami boost.
Step 5
Mix in 1 teaspoon of minced garlic and 2 teaspoons of chili powder for a spicy kick. Feel free to adjust the chili powder amount to your preference.
Step 6
Finally, add 2 teaspoons of chili paste to complete the deep and flavorful seasoning. Whisk all the seasonings together well.
Step 7
It’s important to wash the bean sprouts thoroughly. Soak them in water with a few drops of vinegar for about 30 seconds, then rinse them several times under running water until clean. Drain the bean sprouts in a colander.
Step 8
Now, let’s start cooking. Use a deep frying pan or a pot. Place the washed bean sprouts at the bottom. Layer the pork belly, prepared onion, green chili pepper, and chopped green onion on top. Pour half of the prepared sauce over everything. Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 10 minutes. Tip: The bean sprouts will release plenty of moisture, so there’s no need to add extra water.
Step 9
After 10 minutes, once the bean sprouts have softened and the ingredients have started to cook, add the remaining sauce. Switch to medium heat and stir-fry for another 10 minutes. Continue to stir-fry until all the ingredients are well combined and coated in the sauce. Your delicious pork belly and bean sprout stir-fry is ready! Serve it over hot rice for a satisfying meal or enjoy it as a side dish.
