TV’s Hot Menu: Make Kang Sik Dang’s Kimchi Rice with This Golden Recipe!
I’ve made the now-famous Kimchi Rice from Kang Sik Dang at home! It’s simple to prepare, incredibly satisfying for a meal, and I highly recommend it. It offers a unique charm distinct from kimchi fried rice, making it a dish I’ll be making often! Let’s all make it together!
Main Ingredients- 2 bowls of cooked rice
- 2 paper cups of well-fermented napa cabbage kimchi
- 1 stalk of green onion
- Pizza cheese (to taste)
- 1 paper cup of cooking oil
Seasoning Ingredients- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp red pepper powder
- 3 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 2 Tbsp red pepper powder
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, carefully prepare all the ingredients needed for the recipe. Washing and measuring them precisely is the first step to a delicious dish.
Step 2
Wash the green onion, pat it dry, and finely chop it. Chopping it this way helps its flavor infuse better into the oil.
Step 3
Chop the kimchi into bite-sized pieces. You can adjust the amount based on the kimchi’s sourness or saltiness.
Step 4
Heat a pan and add the cooking oil (1 paper cup) and the chopped green onions. Stir-fry over high heat until the green onions turn golden brown and fragrant, creating a rich green onion oil. This step is crucial for flavor.
Step 5
Once the oil is fragrant, add the chopped kimchi and reduce the heat to medium. Sauté for about 2 minutes until the kimchi softens and blends well with the seasonings.
Step 6
When the kimchi is cooked slightly, pour the soy sauce along the edges of the pan. Letting it caramelize slightly enhances the savory depth.
Step 7
Next, add the sugar (1 Tbsp) and again, pour it along the pan’s edges. Continue to stir-fry over medium heat for about 3 minutes. The sugar will melt, balancing the kimchi’s sourness and adding a touch of sweetness and umami.
Step 8
Finally, add the red pepper powder (2 Tbsp) and quickly mix everything together. Be careful not to burn the pepper powder; stir just until combined.
Step 9
Voila! The base for your delicious Kimchi Rice is complete. This seasoned mixture alone is enough to make a satisfying meal!
Step 10
In 2 bowls of warm cooked rice, add a generous amount of the prepared Kimchi Rice base. Mix thoroughly with a spatula or spoon, ensuring every grain of rice is coated with the flavorful seasoning. This thorough mixing is key.
Step 11
Spread the seasoned kimchi rice evenly in the pan and cook over medium heat for about 2 minutes. Creating a slightly crispy bottom layer, like a thin crust, adds a wonderful texture.
Step 12
Generously sprinkle your desired amount of pizza cheese over the kimchi rice. Adding plenty of cheese will elevate both the appearance and the taste!
Step 13
Reduce the heat to very low (simmer) and cover the pan with a lid. Let it sit for about 30 seconds. The cheese will melt slowly, creating a fantastic harmony with the kimchi rice.
Step 14
Once the Kimchi Rice is ready, carefully transfer it to a serving plate. It’s best enjoyed hot right away.
Step 15
Tada! Your cheesy Kimchi Rice, the popular menu item from Kang Sik Dang, is complete! Enjoy your delicious meal!
