  • 100g Spam
  • 1 stalk Green onion
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1/3 tsp Salt
  • Pinch of black pepper

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare 20 perilla leaves. Wash them thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt or debris, ensuring a cleaner dish.

Step 1

Step 2

After washing, pat the perilla leaves dry and then finely chop them. Chopping them finely will help them incorporate well into the batter and make them easier to eat.

Step 2

Step 3

Next, place 100g of Spam into a bowl and mash it with a fork. If the bowl is deep and mashing with a fork is difficult, tilt the bowl and press the Spam against the side of the bowl for easier mashing. You can also shred it with your hands.

Step 3

Step 4

Add the finely chopped perilla leaves to the bowl with the mashed Spam. Also, finely chop 1 green onion and add it to the mixture. Use both the white and green parts of the green onion to enhance both the visual appeal and the flavor.

Step 4

Step 5

Now, crack 4 eggs into the bowl. Add 1/3 tsp of salt and a pinch of black pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly with a spoon or whisk to create the batter, ensuring the perilla leaves, Spam, and green onions are well combined. You can adjust the saltiness to your preference.

Step 5

Step 6

Heat a pan with a generous amount of cooking oil. Drop spoonfuls (about 1-2 tablespoons each) of the batter into the pan, shaping them into small, flat patties. Cook over medium-low heat until golden brown and crispy on both sides. These delicious perilla leaf and Spam egg pancakes will make a wonderful meal for you!
