Cooking Instructions

Step 1

The crucial first step for making perfect boiled eggs! Using cold eggs straight from the refrigerator can cause the shells to crack due to the sudden temperature change. Therefore, take the eggs out about 30 minutes beforehand to let them come to room temperature.

Step 2

This tip helps prevent the eggshells from breaking and makes them easier to peel later. Fill a pot with cold water and add 2 tablespoons of white vinegar. Vinegar softens the calcium carbonate in the eggshell. Carefully place the pre-prepared eggs into this water.

Step 3

This is the second tip to help ensure the eggshells peel off more easily after boiling. Once the water begins to boil, add 1 tablespoon of coarse salt. Salt slightly raises the boiling point of water and helps prevent the egg white from leaking out if there are any tiny cracks in the shell. Give it a gentle stir after adding the salt.

Step 4

Now, it’s time to boil. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium and boil the eggs for about 10 minutes. This duration is for a moist soft-boiled to a firm hard-boiled consistency; you can adjust this time between 8 minutes (for soft-boiled) and 12 minutes (for hard-boiled) depending on your desired doneness.

Step 5

Immediately after removing the boiled eggs from the hot water, plunge them into cold water or an ice bath to rapidly cool them down. This drastic temperature drop causes the inside of the egg to contract, creating a space between the shell and the egg, making peeling much easier. Once completely cooled, peel off the shells for perfectly clean boiled eggs!
