Key Ingredients- 1 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)
- 1 to 1.5 Tbsp brine from pickled chili peppers (adjust to taste)
- 1 Tbsp maesilcheong (green plum syrup)
- 0.5 Tbsp soy sauce
- 1 Tbsp vinegar
- 1 Tbsp honey or corn syrup
- 1 Tbsp Haechandle Taeyangcho Gold Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Prepare three small glass containers. Portioning the ingredients for one serving (twice) and two servings (once) will make storage convenient. Start by adding the minced garlic, which you can store frozen, to each container according to the portion size.
Step 2
Add the gochugaru on top of the garlic. Then, sequentially add all the remaining prepared sauce ingredients (pickled chili brine, maesilcheong, soy sauce, vinegar, honey, and gochujang) into the containers. Using a single spoon to mix all ingredients will also minimize dishwashing.
Step 3
For the single-serving containers, adding about 1 Tbsp of the pickled chili brine helps balance the flavor perfectly. If you don’t have fresh cucumber for your naengmyeon topping, adding 1 Tbsp of the brine used for seasoned cucumbers will also result in a delicious flavor. Store this bibimjang in the refrigerator and enjoy it with your naengmyeon when ready to eat!
