Ingredients- 3 medium potatoes
- 1/2 carrot
- 1 can (200g) Spam
- 1 Tbsp black sesame seeds
- 1 Tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 4 Tbsp cooking oil (soybean oil or canola oil recommended)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables for the dish. Thinly julienne the carrot to add a beautiful color when stir-fried. Cut the potatoes into sticks about 0.5 cm thick and soak them in cold water for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch. This prevents the potatoes from sticking together and ensures a cleaner stir-fry. Julienne the Spam to a similar thickness as the potatoes.
Step 2
Heat a pan over medium heat and add about 4 tablespoons of cooking oil generously. Once the oil is sufficiently hot, add the julienned potatoes, carrots, and Spam. Begin to stir-fry. Do not use sesame oil at this stage. It’s best to gently stir the ingredients with a spatula as they cook to prevent sticking.
Step 3
Once the potatoes turn translucent and start to cook, most of the ingredients are done. Now it’s time to season. Add 1 tablespoon of grated Parmesan cheese and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well to combine all ingredients and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes. The Parmesan cheese powder adds a delicious umami flavor without needing salt.
Step 4
When the potatoes are fully cooked and all ingredients are well combined, turn off the heat. Finally, sprinkle 1 tablespoon of black sesame seeds for added color and a nutty aroma. If you prefer, you can add more Parmesan cheese to adjust the seasoning. If it tastes a bit bland, adding a little more cheese will balance the flavor and enhance the taste.
Step 5
