Main Ingredients- 8 meat dumplings
- 1/2 onion
- 1 Daedae tomato
- 5 fresh oysters
- 2 pinches of sea salt
- 1 Korean green chili pepper (cheongyang)
- Sliced olives, to taste
- Plenty of mozzarella cheese
- A little cooking oil
- Lettuce leaves, for serving
Seasoning & Extras- 1 knob of butter (approx. 10g)
- A pinch of dried basil
- A pinch of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 knob of butter (approx. 10g)
- A pinch of dried basil
- A pinch of grated Parmesan cheese
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, take the meat dumplings out of the freezer to thaw. Thinly slice the onion and dice the Daedae tomato into small cubes.
Step 2
Prepare the fresh oysters. In a bowl, dissolve two pinches of sea salt in lukewarm water. Gently swirl the oysters in the salted water to clean them, being careful not to break them. Drain the oysters well and meticulously check for and remove any shell fragments or debris.
Step 3
Heat a pan with a little cooking oil. Place the thawed dumplings in the hot pan and pan-fry them until golden brown and slightly crispy on both sides. A well-seared dumpling adds wonderful texture.
Step 4
Push the cooked dumplings to one side of the pan. Add the sliced onions, diced tomatoes, and prepared oysters to the pan. Melt the knob of butter and stir-fry everything together until the vegetables are softened and the oysters are just cooked through. The butter will add a wonderful depth of flavor.
Step 5
Finely chop the Korean green chili pepper (removing seeds if you prefer less heat) and add it to the pan. Mix well with the other ingredients. If you enjoy a spicier dish, feel free to add more chili or keep the seeds.
Step 6
Generously sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the mixture in the pan. Don’t be shy – more cheese makes it even better! Artfully arrange the sliced olives on top of the cheese.
Step 7
Cover the pan with a lid and cook over low heat until the mozzarella cheese is fully melted and bubbly. The melting cheese will bind all the delicious ingredients together.
Step 8
We added the Korean green chili pepper for a hint of spice, but it might not be as fiery as expected. If you want a more pronounced heat, increase the amount of chili pepper or add it right at the very end of cooking.
Step 9
The butter really enhances the richness of this gratin, making it incredibly palatable even for children who might be hesitant about oysters. The dish can be slightly salty, so serving it with fresh lettuce leaves allows you to create a delightful wrap, balancing the flavors perfectly.
