Ingredients- 300ml White Milk
- 40g Misutgaru (Roasted Grain Powder)
- 1 Tbsp Sugar (adjust to taste)
- 3 tsp Instant Coffee
- A pinch of Roasted Soybean Powder (for topping)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, let’s gather all the ingredients you’ll need to create this delightful Misutgaru Latte. You’ll be surprised how easily you can make a cafe-quality drink at home!
Step 2
To achieve a rich and authentic Misutgaru flavor, we’ll use 40g of Misutgaru. We’ll also add 1 tablespoon of sugar for sweetness – feel free to adjust this to your preference or substitute with honey or syrup. Have a small amount of hot water ready.
Step 3
In a bowl, combine the 40g of Misutgaru and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Prepare the hot water by heating it in a kettle or microwave. You only need enough hot water to dissolve the Misutgaru, so don’t add too much at this stage.
Step 4
Gradually add the hot water to the bowl with the Misutgaru and sugar, stirring well. Ensure you mix it thoroughly until it forms a smooth paste without any lumps.
Step 5
If the Misutgaru mixture becomes too thick or seems like it might spill, it’s best to transfer it to a larger mug or a heatproof container. This will make it easier and safer to mix until it’s completely dissolved and smooth, creating a perfect Misutgaru base.
Step 6
Now, prepare 300ml of white milk. You’ll also need a tool to froth the milk, such as a milk frother or a French press. Creating lovely foam at home is easier than you think!
Step 7
Using your milk frother, whip the cold or slightly warmed milk until it becomes frothy and voluminous, just like in the video! (If you don’t have a frother, you can create foam by shaking milk vigorously in a sealed jar or using the plunger of a French press. Warm milk generally froths better and holds its shape longer, but cold milk works too if you prefer a chilled latte.)
Step 8
In just a moment, you’ll have beautifully fluffy and creamy milk foam ready to adorn your latte. This is the signature touch of any good home cafe drink!
Step 9
Gently pour the milk (without the foam) into the mug containing the Misutgaru mixture. To achieve neat layers, you can use a spoon to hold back the foam as you pour the milk. This way, the milk will settle at the bottom, leaving the foam on top.
Step 10
Next, carefully spoon the luscious milk foam onto the top of the latte. This step creates that beautiful, inviting presentation you’d expect from a cafe.
Step 11
For an extra layer of nutty aroma and flavor, sprinkle a pinch of roasted soybean powder over the milk foam. Using a fine-mesh sieve will help distribute the powder evenly and create a delicate topping.
Step 12
Finally, it’s time to add the espresso shot that provides that delightful hint of bitterness. Mix 3 teaspoons of instant coffee with a small amount of hot water in a separate small bowl until fully dissolved. This creates a quick and easy espresso shot.
Step 13
Gently pour the prepared espresso shot over the milk foam. Watch as it gracefully cascades down, creating a stunning visual contrast before you take your first sip.
Step 14
And there you have it! A perfectly balanced Misutgaru Latte, featuring the comforting nuttiness of Misutgaru, the smooth creaminess of milk foam, and the invigorating touch of espresso. The combination of flavors is truly divine – nutty, sweet, and with a pleasant coffee undertone. It’s so much more special than just drinking Misutgaru plain. Enjoy this delightful homemade treat!
