Main Ingredients
- 1.5 cups Black Beans (standard paper cup)
- 500ml Water (approx. 2.5 cups)
- 3 Tbsp Soy Sauce for Seasoning (Mat-ganjang)
- 1 cup Walnuts (about a handful)
- 3 Tbsp Oligodang (corn syrup/oligosaccharide)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, combine 1.5 cups of black beans and 500ml of water in a pot. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer until the beans are tender.
Step 2
Simmering the beans gently over low heat allows them to become soft and tender, much like pre-soaked beans. This crucial step ensures a delightful texture without the need for soaking.
Step 3
When the water has reduced by about half, add 3 tablespoons of soy sauce for seasoning. It’s important to add the soy sauce later in the cooking process; adding it too early can make the beans tough.
Step 4
Now, add 1 cup of walnuts to the pot to enhance the nutty flavor. The walnuts will add both texture and nutritional value to your dish.
Step 5
Finally, stir in 3 tablespoons of oligodang (corn syrup or oligosaccharide) to add a glossy sheen and a touch of sweetness. This balances the savory soy sauce and creates a harmonious flavor profile.
Step 6
Once all ingredients have simmered and are well combined, sprinkle with sesame seeds for a finishing touch. Your delicious and nourishing nutty black bean side dish is ready! Serve it over warm rice for a delightful meal.
