  • 2 cans Salmon (drained)
  • 1 pack Small Tofu (approx. 300g)
  • 1/5 Carrot (small size)
  • 1/2 Onion (small size)
  • 1 Broccoli stem (optional)
  • 1 handful Cashews (or your favorite nuts)

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

First, prepare the vegetables and nuts for your steak. Finely mince the carrot, onion, and broccoli stem. Drain the salmon cans completely and squeeze out any excess water from the tofu. Place the prepared carrot, onion, and broccoli stem into a blender and process until finely ground. Adding the cashews at this stage will contribute a lovely nutty flavor.

Add the drained tofu to the blender or use a hand blender to process it until smooth. It’s important to ensure there are no lumps, creating a creamy base.

Now, add the drained salmon from the can to the mixture of tofu and vegetables. Blend again with the hand blender until everything is well combined and smooth. If you prefer, you can substitute the salmon with canned tuna for a milder flavor.

In the same bowl, add the turmeric powder and flour (or frying mix) to the blended mixture. Knead everything together thoroughly until well combined. Finally, season lightly with salt and pepper. You can proceed to cook directly from this bowl without transferring to another, which makes the process more convenient.

Shape the mixture into round, flat patties of your desired size. They can be bite-sized for children or made larger. It’s a good idea to preheat your pan while you are forming the steaks.

Place the shaped tofu salmon steaks into the preheated pan. Add about 1 teaspoon of water and immediately cover with a lid. Cook over low heat, allowing them to steam and cook gently. Cooking with the lid on ensures they remain moist and tender inside.

Once the bottom side is golden brown and changes color, carefully flip the steaks. Cook the other side until it’s also nicely browned. The turmeric powder gives them a beautiful golden hue that looks very appetizing.
