Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Let’s start by making the tofu patties. In a bowl, add 1/4 block of tofu and mash it with your hands or a fork. You don’t need to squeeze out too much water. To this, add the 2 lines of washed and well-drained kimchi, 100g of minced meat, and 1 tablespoon of starch. Mix everything together by hand until well combined. This forms your tofu patty mixture!
Step 2
Scoop out portions of the mixture and shape them into small, flat, round patties. Making them bite-sized is great for kids. Don’t worry about making them perfectly uniform.
Step 3
Now, let’s make the sweet and sour sauce to go with the tofu patties and Mandu Rice. Finely chop 1/4 onion and place it in a bowl. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 tablespoon of ketchup, 1/2 tablespoon of oyster sauce, and 1/2 tablespoon of vinegar. Add just a little water to adjust the consistency; it shouldn’t be too watery. Mix well, and your tangy sauce is ready! This sauce will add a lovely punch of flavor.
Step 4
Time to make the easy Mandu Rice! In a bowl of warm rice (about 1 bowl), add 2 frozen dumplings. Drizzle in about 2 tablespoons of the prepared sweet and sour sauce. Mix everything together thoroughly so the rice, dumplings, and sauce are well combined. You can also cut the dumplings with scissors if you prefer.
Step 5
Great, all the components are ready! Now, we just need to cook the tofu patties for a fantastic meal. To add a touch of freshness, I’ve also prepared some baby greens, which will look lovely when plating.
Step 6
Heat a little cooking oil in a frying pan. Place the prepared tofu patties in the pan. Cook over medium-low heat, allowing them to brown gently. Once one side is golden brown, flip them over and cook the other side until evenly cooked. Be mindful of the heat to prevent burning. Patties cooked slowly over gentle heat are wonderfully soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside – simply delicious!
Step 7
Arrange the completed Mandu Rice attractively in your serving bowl. Place the golden-brown tofu patties nicely alongside it.
Step 8
Finally, drizzle some of the sweet and sour sauce over the tofu patties. Garnish with the fresh baby greens. Your delicious Tofu Patties and Mandu Rice are now complete! Enjoy your meal and have a wonderful time!
