Creative Tuna Can Recipe: How to Make Delicious Tuna Pancakes
Do you have a can of tuna and want to make a delightful dish? Here’s a recipe for tasty tuna pancakes packed with nutritious vegetables. It’s easy for anyone to make with simple ingredients, perfect for a satisfying meal or side dish.
Ingredients- 100g canned tuna (drained)
- 1/2 stalk green onion (finely chopped)
- 1/2 onion (finely minced)
- 1/5 carrot (finely minced)
- 3 eggs
- 2 Tbsp pancake mix (or all-purpose flour)
- A little cooking oil (for frying)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce (for dipping sauce)
- 1 Tbsp vinegar (for dipping sauce)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the vegetables that will add flavor to your tuna pancakes. Finely chop 1/2 green onion, 1/2 onion, and 1/5 carrot. The finer the vegetables are chopped, the better the texture and even cooking of the pancakes.
Step 2
In a bowl, crack 3 eggs and whisk them together with 2 tablespoons of pancake mix until smooth. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt to season the mixture. This forms the base batter for your delicious tuna pancakes.
Step 3
Open a 100g can of tuna and drain the oil thoroughly by pressing it through a sieve. Ensuring the oil is well-removed is crucial for preventing the tuna pancakes from breaking apart and for achieving a beautiful shape. While tuna oil can add flavor, too much can make the batter too wet.
Step 4
Add the finely minced vegetables (green onion, onion, carrot) and the drained tuna to the egg batter. Use a spatula or spoon to mix everything thoroughly until well combined. Ensuring the tuna and vegetables are evenly incorporated into the batter is key to tasty tuna pancakes.
Step 5
Heat a non-stick pan over medium-low heat and add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom. Scoop the batter with a tablespoon and drop it onto the pan, shaping it into round, flat tuna pancakes. Cook slowly over low heat until golden brown on one side, then carefully flip and cook the other side until golden and cooked through. Cooking over medium-low heat, rather than high heat, ensures they cook evenly without burning.
Step 6
While the pancakes are frying, let’s make the dipping sauce. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of soy sauce with 1 tablespoon of vinegar. Dip the finished tuna pancakes into this sauce for a delightful way to enjoy your tuna can creation. These are perfect as a snack for kids or an appetizer for adults!
