Nutritious Asparagus Namul Recipe
How to Make Healthy and Delicious Asparagus Namul
Create a flavorful asparagus namul, rich in asparagine, an amino acid known to help with hangovers. Asparagus is packed with fat-soluble vitamins like beta-carotene and vitamin E, so stir-frying it with oil enhances absorption. Combining it with foods high in vitamin C, such as pumpkin or bell peppers, can boost immunity through a synergistic effect.
✨ Tips for Selecting Asparagus
1. Choose asparagus with tightly closed tips for freshness.
2. Look for a deep green color.
3. The base should be of uniform thickness and straight.

Main Ingredients- 10 asparagus spears
Seasoning Ingredients- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or honey
- 1/2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
- 1 pinch salt
- 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic
- 1 Tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup or honey
- 1/2 Tbsp red pepper flakes
- 1 Tbsp sesame oil
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash the asparagus thoroughly. Trim off the tough, woody ends. If the stalks are thick, you can halve them lengthwise to help the seasoning penetrate better.
Step 2
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water and carefully add the asparagus. Blanch for about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to overcook, as it can become mushy.
Step 3
Immediately remove the blanched asparagus from the hot water and rinse it under cold running water. This step helps to maintain the crisp texture of the asparagus.
Step 4
Drain the asparagus well. Gently tear the blanched asparagus spears into bite-sized strips by hand. For thicker stalks, tearing them into 2-3 strips is recommended.
Step 5
In a bowl, combine the torn asparagus with 1/2 Tbsp minced garlic, 1 Tbsp gochujang, 1 Tbsp corn syrup (or honey), 1/2 Tbsp red pepper flakes, and 1 Tbsp sesame oil. Gently mix and toss everything together until the asparagus is evenly coated with the seasoning. Taste and adjust seasoning with a little more salt or other ingredients if needed, according to your preference.
