Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Hello everyone! Today, we’re going to make a nutritious and delicious pan-fried tofu, perfect as a side dish for your meals. It’s so simple, anyone can easily follow along. Shall we get started right away?
Step 2
First, prepare one block of tofu. Cut the tofu into bite-sized pieces, usually about 2cm thick. Place kitchen towels over the cut tofu and gently press down to remove excess water. This step helps prevent the tofu from breaking apart while cooking and makes it taste even better.
Step 3
Heat 1 tablespoon of cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the drained tofu and cook until golden brown. To achieve a nice golden color without the tofu breaking, let one side cook until it’s nicely browned before flipping it. This will make the tofu firmer and hold its shape beautifully.
Step 4
While the tofu is browning, prepare the sauce. In a separate bowl, combine all the sauce ingredients: 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 tablespoons oligosaccharide, 1/2 tablespoon oyster sauce, and 1 tablespoon gochujang. If you prefer a spicier kick, feel free to increase the amount of gochujang.
Step 5
Once the tofu is golden brown on both sides, carefully remove it from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon of minced garlic and sauté over low heat until fragrant, being careful not to burn it. Once the garlic is lightly golden, add 3 tablespoons of water, followed immediately by the prepared sauce.
Step 6
Bring the sauce to a gentle simmer. Then, return the browned tofu to the pan. Over medium heat, gently toss the tofu with the sauce using a spatula, ensuring it’s evenly coated. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the tofu beautifully, being mindful not to let the sauce burn.
Step 7
Finally, drizzle in 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds to your liking. Your delicious and nutritious pan-fried tofu is ready! Serve it over warm rice for a truly satisfying meal. Enjoy!
