Nutritious and Savory Pan-Fried Tofu and Abalone Patties
Delicious Tofu and Abalone Patties: A Perfect Diet Side Dish or for Kids!
As I’ve started making my own diet lunch boxes, I’ve realized the importance of creating balanced and nutritious side dishes. This led me to think about what I could make, and I spotted some tofu and fresh abalone, so I decided to pan-fry them together. I’m not usually a big fan of plain tofu patties, and I tend to enjoy them more when other ingredients are added. However, this dish is incredibly delicious! It’s so good, it’s more of a general side dish than just a diet option, and I think kids will especially love it. The moment I took a bite right after cooking, it was truly amazing. Enjoy this hearty and delicious meal option even while on a diet! Stay healthy today~♡
Main Ingredients- 1 fresh abalone
- 1/2 block tofu (firm or silken, about 150-200g)
- A little bit of Cheongyang chili pepper (for a spicy kick, adjust to taste)
- A little bit of red chili pepper (for color, adjust to taste)
- 2 Tbsp egg wash (about 1/2 beaten egg)
- 2 Tbsp glutinous rice flour (for a crispy exterior and chewy interior)
Seasoning- A pinch of salt (like ‘Matsokum’ or common salt)
- A pinch of black pepper
- A pinch of salt (like ‘Matsokum’ or common salt)
- A pinch of black pepper
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare the tofu. Gently press out excess water from the tofu using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Place the squeezed tofu in a bowl and mash it thoroughly with a fork or your hands until it’s smooth and lump-free. It’s important to ensure it’s not too mushy.
Step 2
Clean the fresh abalone by separating it from its shell. Remove the guts and rinse it under running water. Dice the cleaned abalone very finely. Mincing it this way will result in a smoother texture in the patties.
Step 3
Combine the mashed tofu and minced abalone in a bowl. Add the finely chopped Cheongyang and red chili peppers. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. If making this for children, you can omit the chili peppers or adjust the amount according to their preference.
Step 4
Add the glutinous rice flour and egg wash to the tofu-abalone mixture. Knead the ingredients together until a cohesive batter forms. You can mix it with your hands. The batter should be firm enough to be shaped into small patties without being too sticky. If the batter feels too wet, add a little more glutinous rice flour.
Step 5
Heat a pan over medium heat and add enough cooking oil to coat the bottom. Drop spoonfuls of the batter onto the hot pan and flatten them into small, round patties. Cooking over medium-low heat is best to ensure they cook through evenly without burning. Pan-fry them until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
Step 6
Arrange the perfectly pan-fried tofu and abalone patties on a serving plate. They are best enjoyed warm. You can also serve them with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce for an enhanced flavor. Enjoy a healthy and delicious meal with these nutritious patties!
