If you’re on a diet, we highly recommend this healthy brown rice with vegetables! We’ve added turmeric, known for its health benefits, to create a rice dish packed with flavor and nutrition. It’s a satisfying and comforting meal that’s gentle on your stomach.
Rice Cooking Ingredients- 3 cups brown rice
- 1 handful dried seaweed (approx. 10-15g)
- 1 handful dried shiitake mushrooms (approx. 5-8 mushrooms)
- 1 handful dried mussels (approx. 15-20g)
Seasoning and Spices- 3 cups water (same amount as rice)
- 2 Tbsp ground turmeric
- 3 cups water (same amount as rice)
- 2 Tbsp ground turmeric
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
First, prepare 3 cups of brown rice. Place it in a bowl and rinse it thoroughly. Rinse it multiple times until the water runs clear, similar to how you’d rinse regular rice, for a cleaner taste. Transfer the rinsed brown rice to an electric pressure cooker and add 3 cups of water, matching the volume of the rice.
Step 2
Now, let’s prepare the dried ingredients that will add flavor to your rice. Soak the dried seaweed, dried shiitake mushrooms, and dried mussels separately in cold water and rinse them clean. This helps remove any dust or debris. Let them soak briefly to rehydrate. Add these rinsed ingredients to the pressure cooker along with the brown rice and water.
Step 3
Add 2 tablespoons of beneficial ground turmeric and gently stir to combine all the ingredients evenly. Let the seasoned rice soak for 30 minutes. This allows the brown rice to absorb moisture fully, resulting in a softer texture. After soaking, select the ‘Brown Rice’ setting on your electric pressure cooker and start the cooking process. The cooking time is approximately 50 minutes.
Step 4
