Nutritious Baby Porridge with Chicken, Tofu, and Apple
A nutrient-rich baby food created for our little ones who are picky eaters! This delightful porridge is packed with goodness to encourage healthy eating.
Ingredients- 1 piece Chicken tenderloin (approx. 50g)
- 1/4 Apple (seeds removed, approx. 30g)
- 20g Tofu (firm or silken)
- 90g Soaked rice (approx. 1/2 cup)
- 720g Water (approx. 3.5 cups)
Cooking Instructions
Step 1
Wash and prepare all ingredients thoroughly. To remove any gamey smell from the chicken tenderloin, soak it in milk for about 30 minutes. Finely chop the apple after removing the core, and drain the tofu. Lightly drain the soaked rice.
Step 2
Cook each ingredient separately. Add water to a pot and cook the chicken tenderloin over medium heat for about 20 minutes until tender. In another pot, blanch the tofu for about 30 seconds to soften it. Lightly cook the apple for less than 1 minute to retain a slight crispness.
Step 3
Once the chicken tenderloin is cooked, remove it from the pot, let it cool slightly, and then finely mince it using a baby food knife or scissors. Reserve the chicken cooking liquid.
Step 4
Chop the cooked apple into small pieces. Mash the blanched tofu using a fork or a mashing tool until it’s soft and smooth.
Step 5
In a blender or food processor, combine the cooled minced chicken, chopped apple, and mashed tofu. Pulse briefly until the ingredients are well combined but still have some texture. Don’t over-process. Add the soaked rice to the blender and process until smooth or slightly textured, as preferred for your baby.
Step 6
Transfer the blended mixture, along with the reserved chicken cooking liquid and additional water if needed to reach the desired consistency, to a pot. Simmer over medium-low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Cook for about 30 minutes, or until the porridge reaches your desired thickness. This creates a nutritious chicken, tofu, and apple porridge. Adjust the consistency based on your baby’s preference.
